SpaceWorks’ Advanced Concepts Team designs and evaluates next-generation aerospace systems including military deployment and strike capabilities, robotic and human space exploration, high-speed transportation, commercial spacecraft, emerging space markets, and revolutionary technologies. We support Department of Defense, NASA, commercial customers, and many more.

For our internal and external customers, the Advanced Concepts Team performs concept definition, system design and evaluation, multi-disciplinary design optimization, concept trade studies, probabilistic analysis, and technology prioritization. We bring programs from initiation through Concept Design Review and System Requirements Review. We also support several technical disciplines to Preliminary Design Review and into the hardware prototyping phase. 


We are looking for a Senior Advanced Concepts Engineer to join our team!  




As a senior member of the Advanced Concepts Team, your specific technical responsibilities will include: 

  • Design of next-generation hypersonic atmospheric vehicles, Earth-to-orbit launch systems, and human & robotic spacecraft 
  • Coach, mentor, and develop the team, facilitating career development planning and opportunities
  • Mass modeling and vehicle closure of aerospace vehicles and architectures 
  • Trajectory design and optimization using 3-DOF trajectory tools 
  • Multidisciplinary design optimization of aerospace systems 


The position is a full-time salaried job and will be located at our Dekalb Technology Parkway facility in Atlanta, GA.   • B.S. or M.S. in Aerospace Engineering 
  • 10+ years relevant work experience.
  • Understanding of aerospace vehicle design
  • Attention to detail with emphasis on accuracy and quality 
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary, collaborative environment 
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills. Able to clearly articulate design choices as needed. 
  • Must be eligible for U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Security Clearance 
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3) 




  • Experience in multidisciplinary design optimization 
  • Experience in the design of hypersonic atmospheric vehicles, Earth-to-orbit launch systems, or human & robotic spacecraft  
  • Experience with 3-DOF trajectory analysis and optimization
